Beverly Mason, DVM

Beverly Mason, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Mason grew up and spent most of her life in the Boston area. She had the unique opportunity to live in the United Kingdom and attend a Welsh-speaking school during some of her childhood. She completed undergraduate studies at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in the Accelerated Tufts Veterinary program, and then went on to obtain her doctor of veterinary medicine at Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine.

Dr. Mason comes to Dedham Veterinary Associates after 4 years as an associate veterinarian at a busy referral cat practice. She is proficient with dental procedures, laser surgery, and complex internal medicine cases.

Education:

  • BS in biology, with honors, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, 1996

  • Feline medicine—Loves even the most challenging cases
  • Surgery—Extensive experience with soft tissue surgery
  • Laser surgery—Proficient with the use of surgical lasers to reduce the pain, bleeding, and swelling of almost any type of surgery
  • Dentistry—Practicing the most up-to-date dental techniques including digital dental X-ray, surgical flap extractions, and preventative care

Dr. Mason resides in Southborough with her husband, two children, and two pugs. When not working in veterinary medicine, she enjoys running, skiing, and hiking with her family.

Amy Kuo, DVM

Amy Kuo, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Amy Kuo grew up in Massachusetts in Sutton, near Worcester. She received both her bachelor of science in biology and her doctor of veterinary medicine degree from Tufts University. After graduation, she completed a 13-month internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Angell Memorial Animal Hospital.

Dr. Kuo practiced for 5 years on the south shore at a busy emergency referral hospital before joining Dedham Veterinary Associates in February 2008.

Dr. Kuo lives in Newton with her husband and their three daughters. When not working, she enjoys running, training for triathlons and riding her horse, Fairy.

Kathleen Fox, DVM

Kathleen Fox, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Kathleen Fox was born and raised in Quebec City. She received her doctorate in veterinary medicine from the University of Montreal in 1995. She also has a bachelor’s degree in physical activity and a minor in psychology. After graduation, she pursued post-graduate studies and did a 13-month internship at VCA South Shore Animal Hospital.

Dr. Fox went into private practice for 1 year prior to joining Dedham Veterinary Associates in September 1997 and joined Buzzards Bay Veterinary Associates in April 2007. The cornerstone of our practice, she has taken care of many beloved pets over the years from puppy or kitten to senior citizens.

Elaine Gilleece, DVM

Elaine Gilleece, DVM

Veterinarian

Dr. Gilleece was born and raised in the Roslindale/West Roxbury area of Boston. She completed her undergraduate studies at Simmons College in Boston with a degree in Biology. After graduation, she worked as a Microbiology technician in research at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. The research focused on antimicrobial resistance in bacteria and hospital-acquired infections. She was a coauthor on numerous research papers. She then went to Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine to obtain her doctor of veterinary medicine degree.

Dr. Gilleece comes to Dedham Veterinary Associates after practicing as an associate veterinarian at two other busy small animal practices in Natick and then in Dedham.

Dr. Gilleece lives in Dedham with her husband. Her pets include Princess, a Chihuahua mix adopted from the ARL in Dedham and Annie, a cat who was a former stray. When not working at the clinic she enjoys gardening, reading, working out at the gym, cross-country skiing and spending time at the Cape and in Maine. She also does volunteer work with the ARL Trap, Neuter, Release Program.

Melanie Ning, DVM

Melanie Ning, DVM

Veterinarian

Originally from Chicago, Dr. Melanie Ning graduated from the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University in 2017 with Phi Zeta honors. After graduating from the University of Chicago in 2008 with a degree in Economics, she worked in quantitative finance for several years before finding her calling in veterinary medicine. She is passionate about the importance of client communication and strives to find solutions that work for patients as well as their human companions. Dr. Ning’s special interests include dentistry, soft tissue surgery and internal medicine.

Outside of the clinic, she enjoys baking, exploring the beautiful natural parks surrounding Boston, and relaxing over a good book with her husband and two sweet, fluffy cats.

Rachel

Rachel

Hospital Manager

Rachel is our hospital manager and has been with the DVA team for more than four years! She has 15 years of experience in the industry and also has a bachelor’s degree in equine science. Rachel is very passionate about client education and helping pet owners understand why our team recommends certain services so that they can come away from their appointments with a unique trust in the DVA team and a feeling of empowerment in their pet’s care. She is also a huge advocate for the understanding of compassion fatigue and uses that knowledge to help our team members and our clients alike when they are faced with difficult situations or decisions. When she’s not working, Rachel enjoys teaching horseback riding lessons, volunteering with the Special Olympics, reading, photography, and hiking with her dogs!

Caitlin

Caitlin

Director of Customer Service / Hospital Manager, BVS

Caitlin has been with our team since 2012, taking care of our clients at the front desk! As the Director of Customer Service, she is here to make sure you have a great experience at our hospital. Caitlin graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a business degree in finance and management. She enjoys gardening, cooking, anything outdoors, and most sports. Caitlin lives in North Attleboro with her husband Dan, 2 dogs, and 2 cats.

 

Bonnie

Inventory Manager

Bonnie is our in-house inventory manager, but you may also see her in nurse attire caring for your pet. Since she joined Dedham Veterinary Associates in 1997, Bonnie has worked her way up from Veterinary Technician, to Technician Supervisor, to Hospital Manager’€™s Assistant, to her current position as Inventory Manager. Bonnie has continued her education throughout her career with various courses, lectures and seminars on veterinary medicine, human resources, and veterinary business management. She completed the Human Resources module on Veterinary Management at Purdue University and completed the AAHA Veterinary Management Institute program in Denver, Colorado.
Nicole

Director of Nursing

Nicole has been in the animal care field for over 12 years. In that time, she has developed a passion for all aspects of anesthesia and surgery! Nicole enjoys studying new techniques and continually advancing her knowledge to make sure she gives her patients the best care possible. Nicole is proud to be fear free certified and enjoys learning all the new techniques fear free has to offer that make visits to the vet a breeze! When she is not caring for patients, Nicole enjoys outdoor activities, especially going to Patriots games with her husband, spending time with her cat Sushi, reading, and cooking!

Ida

Ida

Lead Veterinary Technician, CVT

Ida is our lead veterinary technician and has been a member of the DVA team for more than 3 years! She is a certified veterinary technician and also has a degree in veterinary technology from Mount Ida College, where she graduated as the class valedictorian with a perfect 4.0 GPA. She is especially interested in surgery and anesthesia. When she’s not at work, Ida enjoys hiking, cooking, and spending time with her fiancee and her pets: Rocky, Nala, and Lucky.

Surgical Veterinary Technician, CVT

Elaina is one of our surgical veterinary technicians and has been a member of the DVA team since 2016! She has a degree in animal science from Mount Ida College and is a certified veterinary technician. She enjoys anesthesia, orthopedics, and working with shy or nervous pets! When she’s not working, Elaina likes going to the beach, cooking, hiking, drawing, and hanging out with her boyfriend and her 4 dogs: Lilly, Charlie, Maggie, and Penny.

Ward Nurse

Lisa has many jobs at DVA, but her main role is Ward Nurse. She is responsible for all our hospital patient’s needs and enjoys educating clients on the post-operative care of their pets.Lisa joined us in August 2007 after working for more than 14 years as a veterinary assistant at another local animal hospital.
Marie

Overnight Nurse

We welcomed Marie to our practice in 2003 and she became our night nurse in 2007. We are delighted to have someone with more than 17 years of veterinary experience in such an important position! As a teenager, Marie attended Norfolk Agricultural High School, where she studied to become a veterinary assistant. She then went on to study veterinary technology at both Becker College and Mount Ida College.

Veterinary Technician

Katie has been working with the DVA team since 2017 and has more than 8 years experience as a veterinary technician. She has a huge heart for animals in need and is extremely passionate about making sure that all pets and owners that come into our clinic receive the best care and experience possible! When she’s not at work, Katie enjoys horseback riding and hiking with her two rescue dogs, Seven and Hodor. She also has 3 cats at home, Swarley, Fanny, and One Eyed Willy.
Olivia

Veterinary Technician Assistant

Olivia joined our team in 2017 as a Client Care Associate. She is currently studying at Mount Ida College to obtain her Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Technology. Prior to joining DVA, Olivia worked as a kennel manager, a dog trainer, and a veterinary technician. She has a passion for animal husbandry and expanding the bonds between pets and their owners. When she’s not at work, Olivia can be found at home reading beside her dog Hunter, or searching for her mischievous cats Peanut Butter and Daenerys.
Tiffany

Tiffany

Veterinary Technician Assistant

Tiffany joined our team in 2017 and has been working with animals for the past 6 years. She has loved animals all her life and always dreamed of working in the veterinary field. When Tiffany is not working, she enjoys camping with her son and boyfriend, hiking with her pitbull, Stacey, or reading next to her two cats, Princess and Grizz.

Karen

Certified Veterinary Technician

Karen has been a member of the DVA team since 2017 and comes to us with 3 decades of experience in the veterinary field! She is a certified veterinary technician and is also certified in abdominal ultrasonography. Karen is very passionate about working with animals and especially enjoys surgery, radiology, and phlebotomy. When she’s not working, Karen enjoys hiking, DIY projects on her house, pet sitting, and hanging out with her 3 cats: Bear, Spike, and Ray.

Kerrie

Client Care Associate

Kerrie is a client care associate that has been with the DVA team since 2017. She has more than 20 years in the customer service industry, which makes her a stellar addition to our client care team! She loves getting to know pets and their owners and making sure they have the best experience possible at our clinic! When she’s not at work, Kerrie enjoys spending time with her family, boating, snowmobiling, and watching movies. She also has a diverse furry family with 2 dogs, 4 cats, 1 chinchilla, and 1 horse!

Client Care Associate

Emily was welcomed onto our team in 2017. She has a Bachelors in Animal Science from the University of Vermont as well as diverse experience from both exotic and domestic animal fields. Emily is passionate about animal health and helping pet parents achieve the best possible care. She is excited to be a part of such an enthusiastic team! When not at work, she can be found gardening, reading, or exploring new local places.
